Just to be clear, these two phones are said to launch in China in the first quarter of next year. We’re not sure if they’re coming to global markets, nor how long will it take them to do that.
HONOR may announce two foldable smartphones in Q1 2022
HONOR has made a big return to various global markets, with Google services on board. So we’re expecting its foldables to find their way to consumers in various markets. As a reminder, HONOR didn’t announce a single foldable smartphone thus far. These two phones will be its first offerings. We didn’t really hear much about HONOR’s foldable plans, until now. The tipster went ahead and shared some design details with the public. He said that one of the two phones will unfold up and down, and the other left and right. In other words, one will compete with the Galaxy Z Flip 3, and the other with the Z Fold 3. That also means that one of the devices will be a smartphone that folds in a smaller form factor. While the other will be a tablet that folds into a smartphone, essentially. We are expecting both of those devices to include two displays, but we’ll see what is HONOR’s thinking on this. The tipster also said that Xiaomi is hard at work to deliver a foldable smartphone.
The larger phone is said to sport an 8-inch foldable display
Some previous information by Ross Young, a well-known display analyst, indicated that HONOR plans to use foldable displays by BOE and Visionox. It was also said that HONOR’s larger foldable will include an 8-inch main display, and a 6.5-inch secondary panel. It’s also worth saying that HONOR was expected to deliver its first foldable smartphone in Q4 2021. That won’t happen, it seems, as the company’s plans changed along the way.
